Most of the ancient yogic texts were written down by yogis in sanskrit language( yoga sutra, hatha yoga pradipika, yoga philosphies). Yogis like Patanjali, Gorakgnath, Matsendranath written those texts hundred of years back. They never wanted that a person practising yoga should fight with himself or herself. The Asana should be very easy & simple. A SADHAK (practioner) may be a beginner or advance should take the pose so he can relax, breathe, meditate in the pose.
Patanjali said " sthir sukham asanam", steady and comfortable should be the posture. Patanjali is not against the body. He says that only in a graceful body a graceful mind exists.
The body is like a musical instrument that has to be rightly tuned.
